Former CEO Lee Jang Hyey Receives Ministerial Commendation for Contributions to Global Market Expansion and Export Growth
Ildong Bioscience, a subsidiary of the Ildong Pharmaceutical Group specializing in health functional foods, announced on December 5 that it has been awarded the "Three Million Dollar Export Tower" at the "Trade Day" awards ceremony.
The "Export Tower" is an accolade jointly presented by the Korea International Trade Association and the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy. It recognizes companies or organizations that have made significant contributions to overseas market development, export growth, and job creation.
Ildong Bioscience has demonstrated consistent achievements in its global business endeavors. Following its receipt of the "One Million Dollar Export Tower" in 2022 and the "Two Million Dollar Export Tower" in 2023, the company has now reached another milestone with this year’s award.
The company has been actively expanding into markets in the United States, Europe, China, and Southeast Asia by leveraging its expertise in probiotics and postbiotics. It develops and supplies functional ingredients aimed at improving gut health, skin immunity, cholesterol levels, and reducing body fat. Additionally, Ildong Bioscience has strengthened its global competitiveness by obtaining certifications such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) designation, as well as halal and kosher certifications.
In addition to Ildong Bioscience’s recognition, Lee Jang Hyey, former CEO of the company and current CEO of Lutek under the Ildong Pharmaceutical Group, received a commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy. The award acknowledges his efforts in driving export growth and expanding into international markets.
During his eight-year tenure at Ildong Bioscience, Lee played a pivotal role in enhancing research and development capabilities and fostering market creation activities. His contributions not only advanced Ildong Bioscience but also helped invigorate South Korea’s probiotics industry and improve its global competitiveness.
Established in 2016 as a specialized health functional food company under Ildong Holdings following a corporate spin-off from Ildong Pharmaceutical, Ildong Bioscience capitalizes on Ildong’s proprietary lactic acid bacteria technology and infrastructure. The company is currently engaged in developing functional materials and products using probiotics, as well as conducting OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing), ODM (Original Design Manufacturing), and raw material supply businesses.
